Race through a shrinking stock, three cards a pass, then two, then one, in this brisk Forty Thieves spin-off with a skill-driven 90% win rate. Thieves Rush Game Layout

Thomas Warfield built Thieves Rush Solitaire as a Forty Thieves Solitaire variant where you deal fewer cards from the stock with each pass: three cards the first time through, two the second, and one the third. It's medium difficulty, with a 90% chance of winning, and how well you do comes down mostly to skill.

It plays a lot like Forty Thieves and its close relative Thieves of Egypt Solitaire, just with the shrinking deal instead of a single pass through the stock.

Once you've raced through a round or two, the original Solitaire makes a nice change of pace.

How to play Thieves Rush Solitaire

Layout:

8 foundation piles: Build up from Ace to King in the same suit.

10 tableau piles: Build down in suit, moving just one card at a time. Any card can fill an empty pile. Each pile starts with four cards, all dealt face up.

Stock: Click to deal three cards at a time to the waste pile on the first pass, two at a time on the second, and one at a time on the third and last. You get three passes through the stock in total.

Waste: The top card can be played to the foundations or the tableau.

Foundation:

Eight foundation piles hold the two decks. A card can join a pile only if it's one rank higher and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that could follow a 5 of hearts is the 6 of hearts. Each pile fills from ace to king, 13 cards deep.

You can also move a foundation's top card back into the tableau if a pile there will take it, including an empty pile, since any card can fill an empty tableau slot.

Tableau:

Ten tableau piles of four cards each, all dealt face up.

A card can be added to a pile only if it's one rank lower and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that might follow a 7 of diamonds is the 6 of diamonds.

Only cards that aren't covered by another card are free to move, onto a foundation or another tableau pile, one card at a time.

Any card can fill an empty tableau pile.

Stock and waste:

There's one waste pile, and everything else starts in the stock. Click the stock to deal three cards at a time to the waste. The deal shrinks with each pass: three cards at a time on the first pass, two at a time on the second, and one at a time on the third and last. If the stock runs short near the end of a pass, you'll just get whatever's left. Between passes, the waste pile turns back into a fresh stock.

The top card of the waste can be played to the tableau or a foundation.
