The tableau is divided into two pieces in this strange game. The left four columns are governed by FreeCell rules, while the right four columns are governed by Scorpion regulations. Sequences can be shifted from side to side as long as they are legal on the originating side and the top card fits according to the destination side's regulations.

This was created by Thomas Warfield. The game is simple, with a 95% chance of winning. It is played with a single deck, and your odds of victory are primarily determined by your talent.

Scorpion, FreeCell Solitaire, Demons and Thieves, and Shaula are all comparable solitaire games.

How to play Antares

Layout:

4 foundation piles (top right) - build up from Ace to King in suit.

4 cells (top left) - card storage places. Each cell can only have one card.

8 tableau piles (below foundations and cells) - 4 piles on the left (dubbed the Scorpion piles), built down in suit. Cards in groups (regardless of sequence) can be moved. Fill in the blanks with Kings or groupings of cards led by a King. Build down by alternate color on the four piles on the right (called the FreeCell piles). Move groupings of cards if they are in alternate color order and there are enough open cells for the cards to be moved separately. Any card or legal collection of cards can fill a space. At the start of the game, the Scorpion piles receive 6 cards face up, while the FreeCell piles receive 7 cards face up.

Foundation:

There are four foundation piles.

Any ace in the foundation may be transferred to any vacant pile.

A card may be added to a foundation pile if it is one higher than the pile's previous top card and is of the same suit. As a result, the only card that could be played on a 10 of hearts is a J of hearts.

Cards cannot be taken from the foundation after they have been placed.

Cells:

Four originally empty cells

One card can be stored in each cell. Any available card can be played into any available cell. Cell cards can be played back to the tableau or the foundation.
