How to play Rouge Forty

Layout:

8 foundation piles: Build the left 4 piles in color from Ace to King and drop the entire 13 card sequences down by alternate color from the tableau on the right 4 piles.

10 tableau piles: Alternate color construction. Cards in sequence down by alternate colors can be moved as a group. Only Kings or lawful groupings of cards led by a King can fill spaces. At the start of the game, each pile is given four cards face-up.

Stock: By clicking on the Stock, you can deal one card to each tableau pile.

Foundation:

Foundation piles are classified into three types.

Fundament A:

Foundation A has two piles, and any ace can be relocated to any vacant pile in foundation A. Each pile must begin with a distinct hue. A card may be added to a foundation A pile if it is one higher than the pile's previous top card and is of the same color. As a result, the only card that could be played on a Q of hearts is a K of hearts. There may be no more than 13 cards in any pile. Cards may be removed from foundation A.

B Foundation:

Foundation B has two piles, and any ace can be relocated to any vacant pile in foundation B. Each pile must begin with a distinct hue. A card may be added to a foundation B pile if it is one higher than the pile's previous top card and is of the same color. As a result, the only card that might be played on a 7 of spades is an 8 of spades. There may be no more than 13 cards in any pile. Cards may be removed from foundation B.

Fundament C:

Foundation C has four piles. Single cards may never be transferred to foundation C. Only once you've built a complete sequence on the tableau, thirteen cards in order from ace to king, can you transfer it to foundation C. Cards cannot be moved off foundation C after they have been placed.

Tableau:

Splayed downhill, ten tableau piles of four cards each. The top card in each pile is dealt face-up, while the remaining cards are dealt face-down.

A card may be added to a tableau pile if it is one lower than the pile's previous top card and is of the opposing color. As a result, the only card that might be played on a 4 of spades is a 3 of hearts.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card are free to be played onto the foundation or any other tableau pile.

Only kings may fill empty spots in the tableau.

If the cards are alternately red and black, groups of cards in succession from high to low can be shifted from one tableau column to another.

Stock:

The stock is made up of leftover cards.

When you click on the stock, a card is dealt to the top of each tableau pile.
