4 foundation piles: Build up from Ace to King in the same suit.
7 tableau piles: Build down 7 tableau piles regardless of suit. Groups of cards can be moved in any order. Any card can be used to fill a space. At the beginning of the game, one card is dealt to the first pile, two cards to the second pile, and so on. The top card is shown. The rest of the deck is dealt face-up across the pile until the deck is completely dealt up.
There are four foundation piles.
Any ace in the foundation may be transferred to any vacant pile.
A card may be added to a foundation pile if it is one higher than the pile's previous top card and is of the same suit. As a result, the only card that might be played on a 10 of spades is a J of spades.
Cards cannot be taken from the foundation after they have been placed.
Seven tableau piles of cards are stacked as follows, where "D" represents a face-down card and "U" represents a face-up card:
A card may be added to a tableau pile if it is one lower than the pile's previous top card and of any suit. As a result, the card that could be played on a jack is a ten of any suit.
Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card are free to be played onto the foundation or any other tableau pile.
Only kings may fill empty spots in the tableau.
Furthermore, any face-up card in the tableau may be transferred to another tableau column where it fits, bringing all cards on top of it with it.
