Build tableau runs in a single suit instead of alternating colors. One deck, medium difficulty, and a coin-flip 50% win rate. Trigon Game Layout

Trigon Solitaire takes Klondike and swaps alternating colors for single-suit sequences: every tableau run builds down in one suit only. It's a single-deck game rated medium difficulty, with a 50% chance of winning, and skill and luck both play a part.

Comparable games include Double Trigon Solitaire and Quadruple Trigon Solitaire, which double and quadruple the deck for a longer haul.

If single-suit runs aren't your thing, original Solitaire gives you the familiar alternating-color game instead.

How to play Trigon Solitaire

Layout:

4 foundation piles: Build up from Ace to King in the same suit.

7 tableau piles: Build down in the same suit. Cards are dealt in a staircase: one card to the first pile, two to the second, and so on up to seven, with only the top card of each pile face up. Only Kings, alone or leading a same-suit run, may fill an empty pile.

Stock: Click to flip one card at a time to the waste. Redeals are unlimited.

Waste: Top card is available for play on the foundations or tableau.

Foundation:

There are four foundation piles.

Any ace may be moved to an empty foundation pile.

A card can be added to a foundation pile only if it's one rank higher and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on a J of spades is a Q of spades.

The top card of each foundation can be moved back into play if another pile will accept it.

Tableau:

There are seven tableau piles, dealt in a staircase: one card in the first pile, two in the second, three in the third, and so on. Only the top card of each pile is dealt face-up; the rest are face-down.

A card can be added to a tableau pile only if it's one rank lower and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on a 7 of spades is a 6 of spades.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card are free to be played onto the foundation or any other tableau pile.

Only Kings may fill an empty tableau pile.

If every card in a run shares the same suit, the whole sequence can be moved from one tableau pile to another.

Stock and waste:

There is one waste pile and the remaining cards make up the stock.

When you click the stock, one card is dealt to the waste. You can go through the stock as many times as you like.

The top card of the waste can be played to the tableau or foundation.
