How to play Lady Cadogan

Layout:

8 foundation piles: Construct left 4 piles up in suit from Ace to King. Place 13 card sequences of the same suit from the tableau on the right four piles.

10 tableau piles: Construct down in any suit. Cards in sequence down in the same suit can be moved as a group. Kings or lawful groupings of cards led by a King occupy the spaces. To begin the game, one card is dealt to the first pile, two cards to the second pile, and so on. The top card is shown.

Stock: Click to deal 1 card to the garbage pile. Redeals are unlimited.

Waste: Top card is eligible for play on the foundations or tableau as waste.

Foundation:

Foundation piles are classified into two types.

The Left Foundation

There are four piles on the left foundation. Any ace can be transferred to any vacant pile in the left foundation. Each pile must begin with a distinct suit. A card may be added to a left foundation pile if it is one higher and of the same suit as the former top card of the pile. As a result, the only card that could be played on a 10 of diamonds is a J of diamonds. There can be no more than 13 cards in a pile.

Correct Foundation:

The right foundation is made up of four piles. Single cards may never be transferred to the right foundation. Only once you've built a complete sequence on the tableau, thirteen cards in order from ace to king, can you transfer it to the correct foundation.

Cards may be removed from any foundation.

Tableau:

Ten tableau piles, each with one card, two cards in the second, three cards in the third, and so on. The top card in each pile is dealt face-up, while the remaining cards are dealt face-down.

A card may be added to a tableau pile if it is one lower than the pile's previous top card and of any suit. As a result, the card that may be played on a nine is an eight of any suit.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card are free to be played onto the foundation or any other tableau pile.

Only kings may fill empty spots in the tableau.

If all cards are of the same suit, groups of cards in succession from high to low may be moved from one tableau column to another.

Stock and waste:

There is one garbage pile and the remaining cards comprise the stock.

When you click on the stock, one card from the stock is dealt to the garbage. The stock may be passed through an unlimited number of times.

The top card of the trash can be played to the tableau or foundation.
