Play Klondike's alternating-color tableau with one twist: only a King may ever claim an empty column, so plan every king before you commit.

Single Left Solitaire is Thomas Warfield's one-deck take on Moving Left, trimming that larger game down to a single fifty-two card pack. The tableau will feel instantly familiar to any Klondike player: seven columns dealt in a staircase, one card in the first and seven in the last, with only the top card of each column turned face-up. From there you build down in alternating colors and send suits up to the foundations from Ace to King.
What sets Single Left apart from Klondike is the way empty columns behave. When a column is cleared, it does not welcome just any card. Instead, only a King, the highest rank, may move into the vacant space, which makes every emptied column a deliberate prize rather than a free parking spot. Planning which King to slot in, and when, becomes the heart of the game.
The stock holds the twenty-four cards left over after the deal and turns them one at a time onto the waste. There are no redeals, so the single pass through the stock has to count. With a little foresight the odds sit in a comfortable middle ground, rewarding players who read the board before they commit.
If Single Left appeals to you, try Moving Left Solitaire, the two-deck original, and Triple Left Solitaire, its even larger sibling.

4 foundation piles: Build up by suit from Ace to King. Cards reach the foundations automatically once no further play is available to them.
7 tableau piles: Dealt in a staircase from one card to seven, only the top card of each column face-up. Build down in alternating colors.
Stock: The twenty-four cards remaining after the deal. Click to turn them one at a time onto the waste. There are no redeals.
Waste: The top card is available for play to the tableau or a foundation.
There are four foundation piles, one per suit.
A card can be added to a foundation pile only if it's one rank higher and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on the 8 of hearts is the 9 of hearts. Aces start each pile and Kings finish it.
Cards are moved to the foundations automatically, and once placed they cannot be taken back.
Seven tableau piles are dealt in a staircase, with only the top card of each face-up.
A card can be added to a tableau pile only if it's one rank lower and the opposite color of the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on a black 8 is a red 7. A correctly ordered run of alternating colors may be moved together as a unit.
Cards on the tableau that are not covered may be played to the foundations or onto another tableau pile. When a column is emptied, only a King may be moved into the vacant space.
The stock holds the cards left after the deal and the waste receives them one by one.
When you click the stock, a single card is turned onto the waste. There is only one pass through the stock, with no redeals.
The top card of the waste can be played to any tableau pile or to a foundation.
