The term "Opus" is used by Solsuite for a completely different game. The game is difficult, with a 10% chance of winning. It is played with a single deck, and your odds of victory are primarily determined by your talent.

How to play Opus

Layout:

4 foundation piles: Construct in suit from the rank of the first card dealt to the first pile, wrapping from King to Ace as needed, until each pile has 13 cards. The first three piles are handed base cards of the same rank at the start of the game.

5 cells: Card storage places Each cell can only have one card. The card can be played on the foundations or the tableau.

7 tableau piles: Work your way down in the same suit. Move groupings of cards if they are in the same suit sequence and there are enough open cells for the cards to be moved separately. Spaces can only be filled by cards one rank under the foundations' base card. At the start of the game, the foundations' remaining base card is always dealt first to the first pile, followed by 7 cards handed face-up to each pile.

Foundation:

There are four foundation piles.

A foundation pile will be given a card at random. This is the starting card. The following two piles are dealt with additional cards of the same value. Begin the remainder of the piles with cards of the same rank.

A card may be added to a foundation pile if it is one higher than the pile's previous top card and is of the same suit. As a result, the only card that might be played on a J of clubs is a Q of clubs.

Cards cannot be taken from the foundation after they have been placed.

Cells:

Five originally empty cells

One card can be stored in each cell. Any available card can be played into any available cell. Cell cards can be played back to the tableau or the foundation.

Tableau:

Splayed downhill, seven tableau piles of seven cards each. Every card is dealt face-up.

The first column will be dealt with one of the deck's lowest cards at the bottom.

A card may be added to a tableau pile if it is one lower and of the same suit as the original top card of the pile. As a result, the only card that could be played on a 5 of hearts is a 4 of hearts.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card can be played onto the foundation, an empty cell, or any other tableau pile.

Only high cards may be used to replace empty places in the tableau.

If all cards are of the same suit, groups of cards in succession from high to low may be moved from one tableau column to another.
