How to play Eighteens

Layout:

12 tableau piles: Q-K cards are not used in calculating the total). Furthermore, no two cards can be of the same rank. A K-10-6-2 set, for example, is allowed, while a Q-6-6-6 set is not. Spaces in the stock are automatically filled. Aces are tossed individually. To discard a set of cards, place each card in the lower left reserve pile. The cards are immediately moved to the garbage pile when a valid set is established. At the start of the game, each pile is dealt one card face-up.

Stock: Fills gaps in the tableau.

Waste: Waste Where matched cards are removed from play.

Reserve: Where card sets are generated.

Foundation:

There is just one foundation pile on which deleted cards are arranged.

Tableau:

There are twelve tableau piles of one card each. Every card is dealt face-up.

On the tableau, no construction is authorized.

The cards on the tableau are playable.

Empty tableau spots are immediately filled with a card from the stock. If the stock is empty, the tableau's empty spots may not be filled.

Stock:

The stock is made up of leftover cards.

Cards cannot be withdrawn from the stock manually.
