How to play Carthage

Layout:

8 foundation piles: Build up from Ace to King in the same suit.

8 tableau piles: Build down in the same suit with 8 tableau piles. Only one card can be moved at a time. Any available card is used to fill the spaces. At the start of the game, each pile is dealt one card.

6 reserve piles: The top card can be played on the foundations or tableau. At the start of the game, each pile is given 6 cards. When a reserve pile is totally empty, it can be utilized as a storage cell for one tableau card.

Stock: Clicking deals two cards to each reserve pile.

Foundation:

There are eight foundation piles.

Any ace in the foundation may be transferred to any vacant pile.

A card may be added to a foundation pile if it is one higher than the pile's previous top card and is of the same suit. As a result, the only card that might be played on a 4 of diamonds is a 5 of diamonds. There can be no more than 13 cards in a pile.

Cards cannot be taken from the foundation after they have been placed.

Reserve:

Six six-card reserve piles are spread downward. Every card is dealt face-up.

Placement on the reserve pile is not permitted.

Cards on the reserve that are not covered by another card can be played onto the foundation, any empty reserve pile, or any tableau pile.

Any card can fill an empty slot in the reserve.

Only one card may be moved at a time; sequences are not permitted.

Tableau:

Splayed downhill, eight tableau piles of one card each. Every card is dealt face-up.

A card may be added to a tableau pile if it is one lower and of the same suit as the original top card of the pile. As a result, the only card that might be played on a 10 of spades is a 9 of spades.

Cards not covered by another card on the tableau are eligible for play onto the foundation, any empty reserve pile, or any other tableau pile.

Any card can fill an empty slot in the tableau.

Technically, only one card may be moved at a time, however, enabling super moves allows you to move sequences when there are enough vacant tableau columns to achieve the same result with a sequence of single-card moves.

Stock:

The stock is made up of leftover cards.

When you click on the stock, two cards are dealt to the top of each reserve pile.
