How to play Carousel

Layout:

Ace foundation: Construct using just Aces, alternating in color until the pile contains all eight Aces.

Evens foundations: Start with Twos and work your way up in suit by twos.

Odds foundations: Start with Threes and work your way up in suit by twos. (Three, Five, Seven, Nine, Jack

8 tableau piles: Top card is ready for play on the foundations. Build down in your suit. Only one card can be moved at a time. The spaces are filled by four cards from the waste, unless the waste is empty, in which case the stock is used. At the start of the game, each pile is given four cards face-up.

Stock: Click to turn over 1 card to the garbage. There are no redeals.

Waste: The top card is accessible for use on the foundations.

Foundation:

Foundation piles are classified into three types.

The Ace Foundation

The ace foundation has one pile, and any ace can be played to it in an alternate color sequence.

The Evens Foundation:

There are eight piles in the evens foundation. Any two cards may be transferred to any vacant pile in the evens foundation. A card may be added to an evens foundation pile if it is two higher than the old top card of the pile and of the same suit. As a result, the only card that could be played on an 8 of diamonds is a 10 of diamonds. No pile may have more than six cards.

The Odds Foundation:

The odds foundation has eight piles, and any three of them can be relocated to any vacant pile in the odds foundation. A card may be added to an odds foundation pile if it is two higher and of the same suit as the original top card of the pile. As a result, the only card that might be played on an A of diamonds is a 3 of diamonds. There may be no more than 5 cards in any pile.

Cards cannot be removed from any foundation once they have been placed on it.

Tableau:

Splayed downhill, eight tableau piles of four cards each. Every card is dealt face-up.

A card may be added to a tableau pile if it is one lower and of the same suit as the original top card of the pile. As a result, the only card that could be played on an 8 of diamonds is a 7 of diamonds.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card are free to be played onto the foundation or any other tableau pile.

Empty tableau slots are immediately filled with four cards from the discard pile. If the garbage is empty, four cards from the stock are placed in it. If the stock is empty, any card may be used to fill the tableau's empty places.

Only one card may be moved at a time; sequences are not permitted.

Stock and waste:

There is one garbage pile and the remaining cards comprise the stock.

When you click on the stock, one card from the stock is dealt to the garbage. There can only be one trip through the stock.

The top card of the trash can be played to the tableau or foundation.
