How to play Quadrangle

Foundation:

There are eight foundation piles.

A foundation pile will be given a card at random. This is the starting card. Begin the remainder of the piles with cards of the same rank.

A card may be added to a foundation pile if it is one higher than the pile's previous top card and is of the same suit. As a result, the only card that could be played on an 8 of diamonds is a 9 of diamonds. There can be no more than 13 cards in a pile.

Cards cannot be taken from the foundation after they have been placed.

Tableau:

Splayed downhill, twelve tableau piles of three cards each. Every card is dealt face up.

A card may be added to a tableau pile if it is one lower and of the same suit as the original top card of the pile. As a result, the only card that might be played on a 7 of diamonds is a 6 of diamonds.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card are free to be played onto the foundation or any other tableau pile.

Empty tableau slots are immediately filled with a card from the discard pile. If the waste is empty, a card from the stock is placed in it. If the stock is empty, any card may be used to fill the tableau's empty places.

Only one card may be moved at a time; sequences are not permitted.

Stock and waste:

There is one garbage pile and the remaining cards comprise the stock.

When you click on the stock, one card from the stock is dealt to the garbage. There can only be one trip through the stock.

The top card of the trash can be played to the tableau or foundation.
