It's medium difficulty, with a 50% chance of winning on a single deck, and luck still plays the bigger role in whether the ranks you need end up next to each other.

How to play Patient Pairs Solitaire

Layout:

13 tableau piles: Match two cards of the same rank to discard them as a pair. Each pile's top card is available for matching. At the start of the game each pile is dealt four cards, all face-up.

Tableau:

There are thirteen tableau piles of four cards each, all dealt face-up.

No building is allowed on the tableau.

Any two uncovered cards of the same rank may be removed as a pair, regardless of suit.

The tableau's empty spaces may not be filled.
