Junction Solitaire takes the one-card-per-pile tableau of Single Rail Solitaire and Double Rail Solitaire and scales it up to four piquet decks, the 32-card decks used for games like Piquet. That's four suits across four decks, or 16 foundations in all, and since piquet decks skip ranks 2 through 6, the foundations build in the order Ace, then Seven through King. It's medium difficulty, with a 40% chance of winning, and your odds come down to skill and luck.

How to play Junction Solitaire

Layout:

16 foundation piles: Build up in suit order: Ace, then Seven through King.

7 tableau piles: There are 7 tableau piles. Build down using alternating colors. Cards move one at a time; there's no moving a sequence as a group. Any card can fill an empty space. At the start of the game, each pile is dealt one card, face-up.

Stock: Click to turn over 1 card at a time to the waste. There are no redeals.

Waste: The top card can be played to the foundations or tableau.

Foundation:

There are sixteen foundation piles, four for each suit across the four decks.

Any ace on a foundation can be moved back to an empty tableau pile.

A card can be added to a foundation pile only if it's the next rank up in suit order and matches the pile's suit. Since piquet decks skip 2 through 6, the sequence runs Ace, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, so the only card that can follow a 9 of hearts is the 10 of hearts. A pile holds no more than 8 cards.

The top card of each foundation can be moved back into play if another pile will accept it.

Tableau:

There are seven tableau piles of one card each, all dealt face-up.

A card can be added to a tableau pile only if it's one rank lower and the opposite color of the pile's top card. So the cards that can follow the ten of clubs are the nine of hearts or the nine of diamonds.

Cards not covered by another card are free to move to the foundation or any other tableau pile.

Any card can fill an empty tableau slot. Cards move one at a time here, so you can't shift a whole sequence at once.

Stock and waste:

There's one waste pile; the rest of the cards form the stock.

Click the stock to deal one card to the waste. You get a single pass through the stock, with no redeal.

The top card of the waste can be played to the tableau or foundation.
