Play Double Rail Solitaire Online for Free (No Signup Required)

Build five tableau piles downward regardless of suit, then shift sequenced groups the same free way. One pass, no redeals, and just a 4% win rate. Double Rail Game Layout

Double Rail Solitaire takes Forty Thieves Solitaire and doubles the deck while dropping the suit requirement: build the five tableau piles downward regardless of suit, and move sequenced groups the same way. That freedom doesn't make it easy. You get only one pass through the stock, no redeals, and just a 4% chance of winning. Two decks give you plenty of cards to work with, but skill and a little luck decide whether you clear the board.

Its direct cousin is Single Rail Solitaire, which plays by the same any-suit rules with a single deck instead of two.

The classic Spider Solitaire is the game most players cut their teeth on before trying this one.

How to play Double Rail Solitaire

Layout:

8 foundation piles: Build up from Ace to King in the same suit.

5 tableau piles: Build down regardless of suit. Sequenced groups can move as a unit, also regardless of suit. Any card can fill an empty pile. Each pile starts with one face-up card.

Stock: Click to turn over one card at a time to the waste. There are no redeals.

Waste: The top card can be played on the foundations or tableau.

Foundation:

There are eight foundation piles.

Any ace may be played to an empty foundation pile.

A card can be added to a foundation pile only if it's one rank higher and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on a 10 of clubs is the jack of clubs. A pile holds at most 13 cards.

The top card of each foundation can be moved back into play if another pile will accept it.

Tableau:

Five tableau piles of one card each, all dealt face-up.

A card can be added to a tableau pile only if it's one rank lower than the pile's current top card, regardless of suit, so the only card that fits on a nine is an eight of any suit.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card are free to be played onto the foundation or any other tableau pile.

Any card can fill an empty slot in the tableau.

Regardless of suit, groups of cards in sequence from high to low may be moved from one tableau pile to another.

Stock and waste:

There is one waste pile, and the remaining cards comprise the stock.

Clicking the stock deals one card to the waste. There is only one pass through the stock allowed.

The top waste card can be played to the tableau or foundation.
