How to play Arizona Solitaire
Layout:
4 foundation piles: Build up in suit order from Ace to King.
6 tableau piles: Build down in any suit. Cards can be moved as a group if they're in sequence, regardless of suit. Any card can fill an empty space. Each pile starts with 6 cards.
16 reserve cards: All 16 sit face-up in a single reserve pile, and any of them can be played to the foundations or the tableau.
Foundation:
There are four foundation piles.
An ace already on a foundation can be moved back to any empty pile.
A card can be added to a foundation pile if it's one rank higher than the pile's current top card and of the same suit. So the only card that can be played on a 4 of clubs is a 5 of clubs.
The top card of each foundation can be moved back into play if another pile will accept it.
Reserve:
The remaining 16 cards form a single reserve pile.
Every card in the reserve can be played to the tableau or a foundation.
Tableau:
Six tableau piles of six cards each, all dealt face-up.
A card can be added to a tableau pile if it's one rank lower than the pile's current top card, regardless of suit. So the card you can play on a five is any four.
A tableau card that isn't covered by another card is free to move to the foundation or any other tableau pile.
Any card can fill an empty tableau slot.
You can move a whole group of cards in sequence from one tableau pile to another, regardless of suit.
