Private Lane Solitaire takes Beleaguered Castle Solitaire's tough one-card-at-a-time rule and softens it with two FreeCell-style cells for temporary storage. With no aces set aside on the foundations up front and the whole deck spread across the tableau, the piles land uneven: four piles of seven cards and four of six.

How to play Private Lane Solitaire

Foundation:

There are four foundation piles.

Any ace in the foundation may be transferred to any vacant pile.

A card can be added to a foundation pile if it's one rank higher than the pile's top card and the same suit, so the only card that can land on a 10 of diamonds is the jack of diamonds.

The top card of each foundation can be moved back into play if another pile will accept it.

Cells:

Two cells, both empty at the start.

One card can be stored in each cell. Any available card can be played into any available cell. Cell cards can be played back to the tableau or the foundation.

Tableau:

There are eight tableau piles of cards, with the first four each having seven cards and the next four each having six cards. Every card is dealt face-up.

A card can be added to a tableau pile if it's one rank lower than the pile's top card, regardless of suit, so the card you can play on a 10 is any 9.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card can be played onto the foundation, an empty cell, or any other tableau pile.

Any card can fill an empty slot in the tableau.

Only one card moves at a time; sequences can't be dragged as a group.
