How to play Captive Queens

Layout:

8 foundation piles: Construct the top piles from Fives down in suit to Aces, then Kings. Build the bottom piles from Sixes to Jacks in the same suit.

4 reserve piles: Place Queens in the center of the four reserve piles. There is no structure. The Queens are being held "captive."

Stock: Click to flip over 1 card to waste. There are two redeals.

Waste: Top card is playable.

Foundation:

Foundation piles are classified into three types.

The Five Foundations:

There are four piles in the foundation of the five. Any five can be transferred to any vacant pile in the foundation of the five. A card can be added to a fives foundation pile if it is one lower than the pile's former top card and of the same suit. As a result, the only card that might be played on an A of spades is a K of spades. Each pile is built in ascending order from five to king. After then, no further cards may be played.

The Sixes Foundation:

There are four piles in the sixes foundation. Any six can be transferred to any vacant pile in the sixes foundation. A card can be added to a sixes foundation pile if it is one higher than the old top card of the pile and of the same suit. As a result, the only card that could be played on a 10 of clubs is a J of clubs. Each pile is constructed from six to jack. After then, no further cards may be played.

The Queens Foundation:

The queen's foundation is made up of four piles. Any queen may be relocated to any vacant pile in the queen's foundation.

Cards cannot be removed from any foundation once they have been placed on it.

Stock and waste:

The stock is made up of the complete deck, and there is just one garbage pile.

When you click on the stock, one card from the stock is dealt to the garbage. There are three trips through the stock allowed.

The top card of the waste is accessible for foundation play.
