How to play Thoughtful Solitaire

Foundation:

There are four foundation piles.

Any ace on a foundation may be moved back to an empty tableau pile.

A card can be added to a foundation pile only if it's one rank higher and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on a 9 of spades is a 10 of spades.

The top card of each foundation can be moved back into play if another pile will accept it.

Tableau:

There are seven tableau piles, and the whole deck is dealt across them at the start, so every card is face-up and none are left over.

A card can be added to a tableau pile only if it's one rank lower and the opposite color of the pile's current top card, so the only cards that fit on the jack of spades are the 10 of hearts and the 10 of diamonds.

Cards on the tableau that aren't covered by another card are free to move to the foundation or another tableau pile.

Only kings can fill an empty tableau slot.

Groups of cards in alternating colors, in sequence from high to low, can move together from one tableau pile to another.

Stock and waste:

Because the entire deck goes straight to the tableau, the stock and waste both start empty and stay that way. You won't need them.
