How to play Tuxedo

Layout:

4 foundation piles: Build up from Ace to King in the same suit.

7 cells: Card storage places. Each cell can only have one card. The card can be played on the foundations or the tableau.

7 tableau piles: Work your way down in suits. If groupings of cards are in sequence, move them down in suits. Only Kings can fill empty spaces. At the start of the game, each pile is handed 7 cards face-up, with the exception of the first, fourth, and seventh piles, which are dealt 8 cards.

Foundation:

There are four foundation piles.

Any ace in the foundation may be transferred to any vacant pile.

A card may be added to a foundation pile if it is one higher than the pile's previous top card and is of the same suit. As a result, the only card that could be played on an 8 of diamonds is a 9 of diamonds.

Cards cannot be taken from the foundation after they have been placed.

Cells:

Seven cells, all of which are originally vacant

One card can be stored in each cell. Any available card can be played into any available cell. Cell cards can be played back to the tableau or the foundation.

Tableau:

Seven tableau piles of cards are stacked as follows, where "D" represents a face-down card and "U" represents a face-up card:

A card may be added to a tableau pile if it is one lower and of the same suit as the original top card of the pile. As a result, the only card that might be played on a 4 of clubs is a 3 of clubs.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card can be played onto the foundation, an empty cell, or any other tableau pile.

Only kings may fill empty spots in the tableau.

If all cards are of the same suit, groups of cards in succession from high to low may be moved from one tableau column to another.
