How to play How They Run

Layout:

10 tableau piles: Work your way down in the same suit. Cards in groups can be moved. Fill in the blanks with Kings or groupings of cards led by a King. At the start of the game, each pile is given 5 cards. Three cards are face-down and two are face-up in the rightmost three piles, while all cards are face-up in the other piles.

2 cells: 2 cells. Card storage facilities Each cell can only have one card. On the tableau, a card is available for play.

Foundation:

There are four foundation piles.

Single cards are never allowed to be moved to the foundation. Only once you've built a complete sequence on the tableau, thirteen cards in order from ace to king, can you transfer it to the foundation.

Cards cannot be taken from the foundation after they have been placed.

Cells:

Two cells, each containing one card at first

One card can be stored in each cell. Any available card can be played into any available cell. Cells' cards can be returned to the tableau.

Tableau:

Ten tableau piles of cards, as shown below, where "D" represents a face-down card and "U" represents a face-up card:

A card may be added to a tableau pile if it is one lower and of the same suit as the original top card of the pile. As a result, the only card that could be played on an 8 of hearts is a 7 of hearts.

Cards on the tableau that aren't covered by another card can be played onto an empty cell or any other tableau pile.

Only kings may fill empty spots in the tableau.

Furthermore, any face-up card in the tableau may be transferred to another tableau column where it fits, bringing all cards on top of it with it.
