How to play Double Signora

Layout:

16 foundation piles: Build up by alternate color from the rank of the first card transferred to the first pile, wrapping from King to Ace as needed, until each pile has 13 cards.

11 tableau piles: Build 11 tableau piles by alternate color, wrapping from Ace to King if necessary. Each pile's top card may only be moved. Spaces are automatically filled from waste or stock if the garbage is empty. At the start of the game, each pile is dealt one card face-up.

Reserve: The top card is only accessible for use on the foundations. Here, at the start of the game, 21 cards are dealt.

Stock: Click to flip over cards one at a time to the garbage. There are no redeals.

Waste: The top card can be played on the foundations or tableau.

Foundation:

There are eight foundation piles.

Any card may be the first to be moved to an empty foundation pile. This card's rank then becomes the base value for all foundation piles, allowing only cards of the same rank to be played there.

A card may be added to a foundation pile if it is one higher than the pile's previous top card and is of the opposing color. As a result, the only card that might be played on a 3 of spades is a 4 of hearts. There can be no more than 13 cards in a pile.

Cards cannot be taken from the foundation after they have been placed.

Reserve:

There is just one reserve, which originally contains twenty-one cards. Every card is dealt face-up. There are no cards that may be moved into the reserve. The reserve's top card can only be played to the foundation.

Tableau:

Splayed downhill, eleven tableau piles of one card each. Every card is dealt face-up.

A card from the garbage or other tableau piles may be added to a tableau pile if it is one lower and of the opposite color as the original top card of the pile. As a result, the only card that might be played on an 8 of hearts is a 7 of spades. The reserve cards may not be transferred to the tableau.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card are free to be played onto the foundation or any other tableau pile.

Empty tableau slots are immediately filled with a card from the discard pile. If the waste is empty, a card from the stock is placed in it. If the stock is empty, any card from the trash or other tableau piles may be used to fill any empty places in the tableau. They are not permitted to be submitted from the reserve.

Only one card may be moved at a time; sequences are not permitted.

Stock and waste:

There is one garbage pile and the remaining cards comprise the stock.

When you click on the stock, one card from the stock is dealt to the garbage. There can only be one trip through the stock.

The top card of the trash can be played to the tableau or foundation.

Notes:

To begin the game, choose a card to move to the first foundation pile. This card's rank becomes the basic card for all other foundation piles. This is a critical initial step.
