Layout:

8 foundation piles: Build up from Ace to King in the same suit.

12 tableau piles: Built down in suit. A single card can be moved at a time. Spaces are automatically filled from the stock, unless the stock is empty, in which case any card can occupy the spot. At the start of the game, each pile is dealt two cards face-up; any card handed that can be transferred to the foundations is moved immediately.

Stock: Merely fills holes in the tableau.

Foundation:

There are eight foundation piles.

Any ace in the foundation may be transferred to any vacant pile.

A card may be added to a foundation pile if it is one higher than the pile's previous top card and is of the same suit. As a result, the only card that might be played on a 4 of spades is a 5 of spades. There can be no more than 13 cards in a pile.

Cards cannot be taken from the foundation after they have been placed.

Tableau:

Splayed downhill, twelve tableau piles of two cards each. Every card is dealt face-up.

A card may be added to a tableau pile if it is one lower and of the same suit as the original top card of the pile. As a result, the only card that might be played on a 5 of diamonds is a 4 of diamonds.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card are free to be played onto the foundation or any other tableau pile.

Empty tableau spots are immediately filled with a card from the stock. If the stock is empty, any card may be used to fill the tableau's empty places.

Only one card may be moved at a time; sequences are not permitted.

Stock:

The stock is made up of leftover cards.

Cards cannot be withdrawn from the stock manually.

Notes:

The only method to introduce fresh cards into the game is to empty out the tableau. The game is readily obstructed, therefore the name.
