Play ordinary Klondike rules across eight decks at once: 416 cards, twenty-six columns, and unlimited redeals to dig out every buried King. Octuple Klondike Game Layout

Octuple Klondike Solitaire takes the world's most familiar solitaire and multiplies it by eight. Instead of one deck you play with eight — 416 cards in all — dealt into a sweeping staircase of twenty-six columns above thirty-two foundations, four for each suit of every deck. The rules are exactly those of ordinary Klondike; only the scale changes, turning a five-minute game into a sprawling campaign.

With this many cards in play the tableau does most of the work, and unlimited redeals almost always turn up the card you need. The danger is the face-down cards: a King stranded on top of a long face-down run can freeze an entire column. Dig them out early, keep an empty column or two free for shuffling Kings into, and do not rush the foundations — a card sent up too soon can no longer help you build a tableau sequence.

The game is easy to moderate: with unlimited redeals and eight decks to work through, most deals fall to a patient player, whose odds rest on steady bookkeeping more than on luck.

Octuple Klondike sits at the giant end of the Klondike family. If eight decks feels like too much for one sitting, Double Klondike Solitaire and Sextuple Klondike Solitaire scale the same rules across fewer decks and make for a gentler ramp-up.

If eight decks is more sprawl than you want tonight, the original Solitaire gives you the same rules in a fraction of the time.

How to play Octuple Klondike Solitaire

Layout:

32 foundation piles: Build up from Ace to King in the same suit — four foundations for each of the eight decks.

26 tableau piles: Alternate-color build down. Only a King, or a valid King-led sequence, may fill an empty column. At the start of the game one card is dealt to the first pile, two to the second, and so on up to twenty-six cards in the last pile; only the final card of each pile is face-up.

Stock: Click to deal three cards at a time to the waste. Redeals are unlimited.

Waste: The top card is always available for play on the foundations or the tableau.

Foundation:

There are thirty-two foundation piles, all starting empty.

A card can be added to a foundation pile only if it's one rank higher and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on a Q of spades is a K of spades.

The top card of each foundation can be moved back into play if another pile will accept it.

Tableau:

There are twenty-six tableau piles, dealt as a staircase — one card in the first, two in the second, and so on. The top card of each pile is face-up and the rest are face-down.

A card can be added to a tableau pile only if it's one rank lower and the opposite color of the pile's current top card, so the only cards that fit on a 6 of clubs are the 5 of hearts and 5 of diamonds.

Runs already in alternating-color order may be moved together between columns, and any card not covered by another is free to move onto the foundations or another tableau pile.

Only a King may fill an empty column.

Stock and waste:

The cards left after the deal form the stock, with one waste pile beside it.

Each click deals three cards from the stock to the waste, and the stock may be recycled without limit. The top card of the waste can be played to the tableau or a foundation.
