How to play Milligan Cell Solitaire

Layout:

8 foundation piles: Build up from Ace to King in the same suit.

8 tableau piles: Alternate color build down. If a group of cards is in sequence down by alternate colors, they can be moved. Empty piles can be filled by a King or a valid group of cards led by a King. At the start of the game, each pile is dealt one card face-up.

Stock: Click to deal one card to every tableau pile at once. There are no redeals.

4 cells: Card storage spots. Each cell holds only one card. That card can be played to the foundations or the tableau.

Foundation:

There are eight foundation piles.

A card can be added to a foundation pile only if it's one rank higher and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on a 5 of clubs is the 6 of clubs. There can be no more than 13 cards in a pile.

The top card of each foundation can be moved back into play if another pile will accept it.

Cells:

Four cells, all empty at the start.

One card can be stored in each cell. Any available card can be played into any open cell. Cell cards can be played back to the tableau or the foundation.

Tableau:

Eight tableau piles of one card each, dealt in a row. Every card is dealt face-up.

A card can be added to a tableau pile only if it's one rank lower and the opposite color of the pile's current top card, so the cards that fit on the J of spades are the 10 of hearts and 10 of diamonds.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card can be played onto the foundation, an open cell, or any other tableau pile.

Only Kings may fill empty spots in the tableau.

Sequences running high to low in alternating colors can be moved together as a group.

Stock:

The stock is made up of whatever cards are left over.

When you click on the stock, one card is dealt to the top of every tableau pile at once.
