How to play Ceiling Fan

Layout:

4 foundation piles (top) - build up from Ace to King in suit.

18 fans (below foundations) - alternate color construction. Only one card may be transferred to the foundations or another fan at a time. Only Kings can fill spaces. At the start of the game, each pile is given three cards face up (the last 2 piles only have 2 cards).

Foundation:

There are four foundation piles.

Any ace in the foundation may be transferred to any vacant pile.

A card may be added to a foundation pile if it is one higher than the pile's previous top card and is of the same suit. As a result, the only card that could be played on a J of hearts is a Q of hearts.

Cards cannot be taken from the foundation after they have been placed.

Fan:

There are eighteen fan piles of cards, with the first sixteen each having three cards and the following two each having two cards. Every card is dealt face up.

A card may be added to a fan pile if it is one lower than the pile's previous top card and is of the opposite color. As a result, the cards that might be played on the 6 of spades are 5 of hearts or 5 of diamonds.

Cards on the fan that are not covered by another card can be played onto the foundation or any other fan pile.

Only kings may fill empty places in the fan.

Only one card may be moved at a time; sequences are not permitted.
