How to play Beleaguered Castle

Layout:

4 foundation piles: Build up from Ace to King in the same suit. The Aces are dealt on this pile at the start of the game.

8 tableau piles: Build down in any suit. Only the top card of each pile is playable. Any available card may be used to fill any open space. At the start of the game, each pile is dealt 6 cards face-up.

Foundation:

There are four foundation piles.

Each foundation pile is handed an ace at the start.

A card may be added to a foundation pile if it is one higher than the pile's previous top card and is of the same suit. As a result, the only card that could be played on a J of diamonds is a Q of diamonds.

Cards cannot be taken from the foundation after they have been placed.

Tableau:

Splayed downhill, eight tableau piles of six cards each. Every card is dealt face-up.

A card may be added to a tableau pile if it is one lower than the pile's previous top card and of any suit. As a result, the card that may be played on a seven is a six of any suit.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card are free to be played onto the foundation or any other tableau pile.

Any card can fill an empty slot in the tableau.

Technically, only one card may be moved at a time, but because super moves are allowed, we will allow you to move sequences when there are enough vacant tableau columns to achieve the same result with a series of single card movements.
