How to play Wading Pool

Layout:

8 tableau piles: Work your way down in the same suit. If groupings of cards are in sequence, move them down in suits. Any card or legal collection of cards can fill a space. These piles are empty at the start of the game.

8 reserve piles: Build down in suit on the 8 reserve piles. The top card might be used on the tableau or in the reserves. Only one card can be moved at a time. There are no empty spaces. At the start of the game, each pile is given 6 cards.

Reserve:

There are eight reserve piles of cards, with the top four each having seven cards and the following four each having six cards. Every card is dealt face-up.

A card may be placed on a reserve pile if it is one lower than the pile's previous top card and is of the same suit. As a result, the only card that might be played on a 4 of diamonds is a 3 of diamonds.

Empty reserve pile or tableau pile.

Empty reserve spots may not be filled.

Only one card may be moved at a time; sequences are not permitted.

Tableau:

There are eight tableau piles, all of which are originally empty.

A card may be added to a tableau pile if it is one lower and of the same suit as the original top card of the pile. As a result, the only card that might be played on a 5 of clubs is a 4 of clubs.

Empty reserve pile or any other tableau pile.

Any card can fill an empty slot in the tableau.

If all cards are of the same suit, groups of cards in succession from high to low may be moved from one tableau column to another.
