Back in 2021, Microsoft launched the Surface Duo 2, but it fell short when stacked against the top foldable phones of that time.

Fast forward almost a few more years, and fans were eagerly awaiting the Surface Duo 3, only to be hit with the disappointing news that Microsoft had pulled the plug on it.

The mystery of what could have been for Microsoft's foldable Android device has finally been unveiled today, thanks to our collab with David from @xleaks7 who got access to device drawings.

The Surface Duo has long been my favorite device to play Solitaire on and I'd been waiting in excitement for the new version, so I thought we'd take a look at what happened with the cancelled Surface Duo 3.

The Design

As you can see from the visuals, the new Surface Duo 3 is narrower than its predecessor.

When folded, it offers access to the outside display with a punch-hole front camera.

The back features a large camera module with triple-lens, similar to the iPhone Pro, and a flash.

When unfolded, you'll have access to a foldable internal display, unlike the two separate screens on the Surface Duo 2. The screen has narrow bezels and a punch-hole camera on the inner display.

Can We Still Expect It to Be Released?

Microsoft has officially scrapped its plans to release any foldable Android phones, with no signs indicating a reversal on that decision.

They have laid off the entire team responsible for developing foldable devices, leaving virtually zero chance that we'll ever see this device come to light in the future.
