How to play Alternate Solitaire

Foundation:

Foundation piles are classified into two types.

The Red Foundation

The red foundation consists of two piles. Each red foundation pile is dealt an ace. A card may be added to a red foundation pile if it is one higher than the old top card of the pile and of the opposite color. As a result, the cards that may be played on the Q of spades would be the K of hearts or the K of diamonds. There can be no more than 13 cards in a pile.

The Black Foundation:

The black foundation consists of two piles, each of which is dealt a black king at the foundation. A card of the opposite color may be added to a black foundation pile if it is one lower than the former top card of the pile. As a result, the cards that might be played on the 7 of spades are 6 of hearts or 6 of diamonds. There can be no more than 13 cards in a pile.

Cards cannot be removed from any foundation once they have been placed on it.

Reserve:

There are four reserve piles, all of which are originally empty.

Regardless of suit or rank, cards from the stock may be added to the reserve. In other words, any card may be played on any other card. Cards from other reserve piles are not permitted to be moved to the reserve.

Cards on the reserve that are not covered by another card can be played onto the foundation.

Any card from the stock may be used to fill any empty places in the reserve. They are not permitted to be filed from other reserve piles.

Only one card may be moved at a time; sequences are not permitted.

Stock:

The stock is made up of leftover cards.

The top card of the stock is always face-up, so you may drag it to the reserve or the foundation at your leisure.
